Certified Authorization Professional (CAP) added to Alpine’s Catalog

Certified Authorization Professional (CAP) added to Alpine’s Catalog

O’Fallon, IL, October 10, 2017 – Alpine Security (“Alpine”), a leading provider of instructor-led cybersecurity certification and technical training, adds the Certified Authorization Professional (CAP) training to their public offerings. Certified Authorized Professional (CAP) is the only certification under the DoD 8570 mandate that aligns to each of the Risk Management Framework steps and covers the RMF at an extensive level.

Alpine’s Norm Muelleman, our primary CAP instructor, provided answers to common questions about the CAP Certification and training:

What does the CAP course cover?

The CAP covers the importance of having a documented security risk management framework. This includes having a fully documented and implemented security control set, from policy, training, infrastructure, and management sign-off. The CAP stresses the use of various NIST security frameworks to implement security throughout the corporate network.

Who benefits from CAP training?

While the training is geared for Federal government agencies and Dept. of Defense personnel, any corporation can benefit from the implementation of these controls. The CAP stresses documentation and risk assessment, risk remediation, and implementation of security controls. Cybersecurity professionals would benefit from this training.

Why is CAP training important?

Achieving the CAP shows that the individual has obtained training that helps strengthen an organization’s security posture.

What are the benefits of having CAP Certification?

Earning CAP certification shows you have a thorough understanding of information security and risk management processes and is a powerful way to validate your knowledge and experience. It also makes you more versatile. A CAP-certified indididual will be able to choose from better and more lucrative assignments.

What do you have to do to get certified?

  1. Have two years of full time experience in one of the seven domains of the CAP
  2. Pass the exam!

A little more seriously, though, the CAP exam consists of 125 multiple choice questions, which you get 3 hours to complete. A passing score is 700 out of 1000 points. Having the experience working in one or more of the of the seven domains will be very helpful to successfully passing the exam.

Where can I find more information about Alpine Security’s CAP Training?
