ST. LOUIS, October 3, 2015 - Alpine Security, a leading cyber security firm, is proud to announce that Christian Espinosa, Founder and Principal of Alpine Security, will compete in the Ironman World Championship on Saturday, October 10.
An Ironman race is a triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike, and a 26.2-mile (marathon) run with a 17 hour time limit to complete the race. The Ironman World Championship takes place on Hawaii's Big Island (Kona). Christian has completed 15 Ironman-distance triathlons. Racing "Kona" has been a goal ever since 2007 when he finished his first Ironman in Louisville, Kentucky.
About Ironman Triathlon
Ironman began in 1978 as a challenge. During an awards banquet for the Waikiki Swim Club, John Collins, a Naval Officer stationed in Hawaii, and his wife Judy, began playing with the idea of combining the three toughest endurance races on the island into one race. They decided to issue a challenge to see who the toughest athletes were: swimmers, bikers, or runners. On February 18, 1978, 15 competitors, including Collins, came to the shores of Waikiki to take on the first-ever Ironman.
"You can quit if you want, and no one will care. But you will know for the rest of your life." - John Collins, Ironman Co-Founder
